Introduction to NGO Financial Management and Financial Reporting, Reconciliation, and Audit Readiness for Sub-Grantees built financial management understanding at the CBO level of what individual staff do to plan, monitor, and report responsibly.

This module moves up a level: a WRO doesn’t just manage its own funds; it manages the risk and accountability of every CBO it sub-grants to. That’s a different job.

This module builds the oversight mindset a WRO needs: reviewing, verifying, and supporting CBOs, rather than just collecting their reports and hoping the numbers hold up.

What Will You Learn?

  • Explain the WRO's financial management responsibilities as an intermediary in the sub-grant chain.
  • Apply core financial controls, budget, cash, and accounting record management at the WRO level.
  • Design and apply risk-based monitoring for CBO sub-grantees, using desk reviews, spot checks, and site visits appropriately.
  • Apply compensating controls when a CBO's supporting documentation is genuinely unavailable, while recognizing red flags that should never be waved through.
  • Prepare consolidated financial reports that hold up to donor scrutiny, covering both WRO and CBO expenditure.
